MONADELPHOUS says Enerpac’s RR 1006 hydraulic cylinders have been used to position large condensate storage tanks on the Northern Territory coast for Eni Australia.
Monadelphous deployed ten RR 1006 hydraulic cylinders to erect the 180t tanks. The tanks will hold liquid condensate piped from the Blacktip gas field in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf. The tanks have 18m diameters and are 18m high.
Winnellie Hydraulics was contacted to supply Monadelphous with the Enerpac cylinders. The RR 1006 cylinders are 357mm high and have a 168mm stroke.
Monadelphous says although hydraulic cylinders are typically used for jacking jobs, this application required the storage tanks to be lowered in a controlled descent.
After being manufactured in Perth and barged up the coast, the tanks were offloaded at a purpose-built wharf onto multi-wheeled low loader transporters. The transporters then hauled the tanks to the storage site.
According to Monadelphous, the Enerpac hydraulic cylinders took up the weight of the tanks when they arrive onsite. AM41 and AM21 valving manifolds were used tin addition to the ten 100t Enerpac RR-1006 double-acting hydraulic cylinders to safely lower each tank into its final position. The cylinders were powered by a ZE5420SW 415 V electric pump with a 20L reservoir and a remote control.
Enerpac says its RR-Series of double-acting cylinders have capacities ranging from ten to 520t. They are suitable for tough job sites and are designed for high-cycle industrial uses.
